What truly makes an artist’s book is the artist’s intent, and artists have used the book as inspiration in a myriad of ways and techniques, from traditional to the experimental and continue to challenge the idea, content and structure of the traditional book in new ground breaking ways.

From the ancient history of Egypt and Rome, through the Middle Ages and Renaissance to Post Modernist and Conceptual art the colour ‘White’ has been employed to convey religious, political and cultural meaning; the sanctity of ritual, the purity of the spiritual and contemplative, vast spatial and architectural dimensions, infinity, nothingness, serenity, sterility and austerity are amongst it’s many metaphoric associations.
